You got a heart of glass or a heart of stone
Just you wait till I get you home
We've got no future, we've got no past

Pet Shop Boys - West End Girls lyrics meaning

Meaning

Another primary influence on the lyrics of this song was TS Eliot's famous poem "The Wasteland". Neil Tennant was a big fan of the piece, and the way it told a story from different perspectives in each stanza was copied for West End Girls.

Tennant said:

What I like about it is it's the different voices, almost a sort of collage. All the different voices and languages coming in and I've always found that very powerful. So on West End Girls it's different voices. The line 'Just you wait till I get you home' is a direct quotation.
