Michael Jackson Freddie Mercury Queen duet Unreleased Michael Jackson & Freddie Mercury songs out in the wild?

Major record label Sony has today confirmed that amidst the hacking it suffered last year, some unreleased songs from Michael Jackson have been downloaded, including unfinished tracks in collaboration with Freddie Mercury from Queen and will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas.

The King of Pop tragically died at the age of 50 back in 2009, and the following year Sony bought the rights to his unfinished and unreleased material at a price of $250 million from Michael Jackson’s estate.

However, in 2011 Sony suffered a spate of online security compromises at the hands of hackers, two of which from the UK who are due to stand trial next January.

The songs recorded with Freddie Mercury are said to be about 30 years old, and Queen guitarist Brian May recently commented on the unreleased tracks, stating “The Michael Jackson estate are happy for us to go ahead with the music, but it’s not something that we can rush.” Perhaps now the pressure’s on given that the tracks may leak on the ‘net at any point?

Music lover of all genres, especially Grime. Often tuned into Rinse FM, but quite happy listening to anything from Nine Inch Nails to Girls Aloud to John Williams.
