The Spice Girls have decided to call it a day, according to reports that they held a conference call ten days ago to discuss the future of the group.
The ‘Wannabe’ stars had been planning a tour for next year, though when Victoria pulled out, they started to doubt whether it could ever be a success without all of them taking part.
Talking to The Mirror, a source said:
“Led by Geri, the girls had been plotting a world tour as a four-piece band, culminating in a final night at Wembley Stadium. The other girls had been initially up for it but once they started having meetings they realised the capital wasn’t there. They also feared a general apathy from the public if Posh wasn’t in the fray, leading to dates not selling out. Victoria’s obviously a big pull when it comes to the fans and she also guarantees press coverage.”
It’s thought that it’s Victoria’s connections that made their last live dates such a success, as she managed to get sponsors, organise designers to create the outfits, and even brought in a choreographer friend to perfect their dance routines.
The news comes just days after it was announced that their ‘Viva Forever!’ musical is set to close after failing to bring in the masses.
Is it best that the girls call it a day now, and end on a high? Or would you have been first in the queue for tour tickets?
