Despite scoring a number one single as recently as November, Robbie Williams appears to have now given up on the campaign for its parent album, ‘Take The Crown.’
For the former Take That star has released what amounts to little more than a fan-made YouTube compilation for the LP’s third single, ‘Be A Boy.’
Indeed, lead single ‘Candy’ may have been given the big-budget special effects-laden treatment.
But perhaps burned by the underwhelming response to its follow-up, ‘Different,’ the 38-year-old has decided not to waste any more money on lavish video shoots by simply collating various photos and footage of live performances for arguably the laziest promo of 2013 so far.
The phrase ‘why bother at all’ springs to mind as the synth-driven track is unlikely to reverse the fortunes of ‘Take The Crown,’ which is currently languishing at No.36 in the UK charts.
But with an appearance at next month’s BRIT Awards in the pipeline, not to mention a sell-out stadium tour in the summer, it’s unlikely Britain’s official cheeky chappie will care that much anyway.
