It’s been three years since chart topper and award winner Lily Allen announced her retirement after the release of her second studio album ‘It’s Not Me, It’s You’ in 2009.
Now, rumours are abound that the 26-year-old mother of one is set to make a comeback having been spotted at RAK Studios in St John’s Wood, allegedly working on new ideas and material for what could potentially be Lily’s third album.
Lily’s been busy since announcing her retirement from her singing career, having set up her own record label ‘In The Name Of’ and fashion shop ‘Lucy In Disguise’, which received plenty of exposure on the reality TV programme ‘Lily Allen: From Riches to Rags’, not to mention getting married to boyfriend John Cooper and giving birth to her first child, Ethel Mary.
However, it was when Lily started penning songs for the musical version of ‘Bridget Jones’s Diary’ that the songwriting bug reportedly took over, with a source for the Daily Star stating:
“Lily has been in the studio trying different sounds and writing new tracks. She’s not at a stage where she can start recording but the new album is definitely underway and there’s a chance it could be released early next year. When Lily retired she honestly thought she’d never record again. But she started writing for the new Bridget Jones musical and that gave her the bug back. Her life has changed so much since her last album and she now has a different perspective. Lily wants a more mature sound and is penning tracks about Ethel and Sam.”
Here’s a classic track from Lily Allen’s last album, ‘It’s Not Me, It’s You’, titled ‘It’s Not Fair’:
