Get excited! Empire of the Sun have confirmed their long-awaited return to music with a dramatic new trailer this morning (March 12).

Titled ‘Discovery’, the trailer focuses on a group of Mexican archaeologists, who discover mysterious etchings of Luke Steele and Nick Littlemore on a cave wall.

Electronic music then kicks in as the camera pans to Empire of the Sun standing in the desert in full, elaborate garb.

The trailer, which was produced by J. J. Abrams’ company, Bad Robot, coincides with the announcement that Empire of the Sun will release their second album, ‘Ice on the Dune’, in June.

The album will mark the follow-up to the Sydney duo’s brilliant debut, 2008′s ‘Walking on a Dream’.

Empire of the Sun’s future was plunged into doubt in 2009, when Littlemore went “missing” for 5 months.

It was later revealed that he had been secretly working with Pnau and Elton John on the acclaimed remix album, ‘Good Morning to the Night’.

Empire of the Sun will make their live return in August, when they will headline the stunning Wilderness Festival in Cornbury Park, Oxfordshire. See you there?
