Drake Drake drops new track 5AM in Toronto

Canadian artist and arguably the most in-demand rapper in the game bar Frank Ocean, Drake, has followed up his Top 40 hit, ‘Started From the Bottom‘, with a brand new cut, ‘5AM in Toronto‘ – which you can listen to below.

Drizzy takes aim at his competition (“That’s why every song sound like Drake featuring Drake”), celebrates making it on to Forbes’ infamous Top Hip-Hop Earners list (“I made Forbes list, n*gga/Fuck your list, everything’s lookin’ gorgeous”) and even gives a shout-out to The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’s Uncle Phil (“Anything happen to pop and I got you like Uncle Phil”) over a trance-style beat, courtesy of the acclaimed hip-hop producer, Boi-1da.

Although not as immediate as ‘Started From the Bottom’, ’5AM in Toronto’ sheds further light on the fresh new direction that Drake will take on his third album, ‘Nothing Was The Same‘, which is due to drop later this year. But whether the upcoming LP will be as successful as the illustrious ‘Take Care‘, which recently scooped Best Rap Album at the 55th Annual Grammy Awards, remains to be seen.
