Sleep Thieves reveal the meanings behind lyrics from their debut album 'You Want the Night'
Having already shared the stage with the likes of MS MR, Austra and Saint Etienne, and been championed by music blogs such as NYLON, Pigeons & Planes and The Line of Best Fit, Sleep Thieves had a lot to live up to with the release of their debut album, You Want the Night, this June.
They didn’t disappoint. The album - which marks the follow-up to the Dublin trio’s Islands EP - consists of 9 tracks, each of which showcase Sleep Thieves’ finesse for writing ethereal synth-pop with distinct hints of melancholy, and all headed by the dream-like and reverb-laden lyrical incantations of frontwoman and enchantress, Sorcha Brennan.
In this candid interview with Decoda, Sorcha reveals the meanings behind these lyrics from You Want the Night, which is out now on iTunes.
And I wrap my arms around you ‘cos I know
The sky, full of falling snow and eerie light
And I see as far as ever I can find
To read, between the sky and what I always know….
The sea crashes down up the ones below
I waltz, I waltz for a soul at ease
I dance inside for me
Move oh, so easily
Ground fall, slow, falling
